The tennis world has launched a charity drive to collect used balls to improve the educational inclusion of children with autism. This initiative, by the INECO Foundation and Road to Australia, aims to expand the number of inclusive classrooms in public schools.
The "Let's Give Tennis Balls to Autism" campaign was launched during the Road to Australia tournament held at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club from December 16 to 20. The balls collected during the event, which featured players like Cameron Norrie, Sebastián Báez, and Francisco Cerúndolo, will be placed on the legs of tables and chairs in public schools. This will mitigate dragging noise and improve the educational experience for students with autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions.
Collection bins were placed next to the courts during each match, where players and ball kids deposited discarded balls. The initiative was also promoted by a video starring Ricardo Darín, Andy Kusnetzoff, Federico Coria, Morena Beltrán, and Germán Beder, among other personalities, inviting the public to join the charitable action.
Developed by the INECO Foundation in collaboration with Mercado McCann, the initiative plans to continue in 2026 with new actions related to tennis and other areas as part of a sustained outreach plan. Ball collection points will be added throughout the year and will be announced on the INECO Foundation's website.
